Water is an essential part of a healthy diet and makes up 50-70% of an adults body. It hydrates and moisturises the skin and helps waste and toxins to be removed effectively from the body. The skin is one of the body’s largest organs so it is important that you stay hydrated.

It is recommended you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day/2 litres. If you’re very active or exercise a lot you should increase your fluid intake as water is lost from the body when we sweat. In hot weather it is also necessary to increase your water intake as you become dehydrated more quickly when the temperature increases.

Sipping water regularly throughout the day not only keeps you hydrated but it can also help raise your energy levels and keep you alert.

In the fast paced society we live in it’s easy to suffer from dehydration. Drinks with a high sugar and caffeine content still provide the body with some water but this doesn’t compare to pure water itself. If you want beautiful and healthy skin, drinking more water is a key step to achieving it. Water helps to replenish skin tissues which can lead to a healthier more youthful appearance.
